Health & Safety

As a camp accredited by the American Camp Association, we take pride in displaying this sign of approval. ACA accreditation means that Clearwater cares enough to undergo a comprehensive review of its operation, with over 300 standards ranging from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. By maintaining the rigorous standards of ACA, we are ensuring that Clearwater meets the strictest codes of safety and excellence.

Our safety standards include having a low ratio of campers to counselors in cabins. Red Cross certified Waterfront Lifeguards supervise all waterfront activities. Trip leaders are trained in Wilderness First Aid. During pre-camp, our staff undergoes extensive training on how to prevent and respond to emergencies.

The Rest Cabin

Clearwater has a Registered Nurse who lives on-site during the camp season in the health center, called the Rest Cabin. If a camper has a health issue, the Nurse communicates with parents. If additional medical care is needed, the Marsh´Čüeld Clinic and Howard Young Medical Center, an acute level care hospital, are 8 miles away.
