Following in the footsteps of my mother and grandmother, I became Clearwater camper in 1978 after spending many previous summers there watching my parents help put away the boats for the winter and/or attending Family Camp. Clearwater Camp has been a part of my family’s life since its earliest days in the 1930’s. My daughter has continued in that tradition as a camper for many years in the 2000’s. Camp will always hold a special place in our hearts, and it is an honor for me now to serve on its Board along with so many other dedicated and talented individuals.
After receiving a BA degree at the University of Utah, my husband and I returned to my hometown in the Chicago area and raised two children. We now live in Rockford, Illinois, where I work at an internationally-renowned Japanese garden. I attribute the success that I have had professionally and personally to the independence that I learned as a camper; summers at Camp also gave me a sense of humor and perspective that has never let me down, either during good times or whenever I am facing fear or adversity. My love for the Northwoods has been passed to my husband as well, and we have a cabin there that we visit as often as we can in the summertime.
