Introducing Our Camp Director, Kat Bramley
News

September 15, 2023

Dear Clearwater Family and Friends,

Clearwater’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the promotion of Kat Bramley to the role of Camp Director for Clearwater Camp for Girls, effective on Monday, September 18. Having seen her in action these past two years, we are confident that Kat is the best person to lead camp. Equally important, Kat’s dedication to Clearwater’s traditions and mission to foster confidence, courage, compassion and community will give a solid foundation to all campers and staff at our traditional sleepaway camp for girls and young women.

Clearwater has been a part of Kat’s life since she started as a camper on the Harbor in 1996. She was a camper for seven years, a leadership, and a counselor for four summers. Before returning to camp in 2021, Kat pursued careers in both education, working with students ranging from elementary age to undergraduates, and in theater, as an actor and teaching artist in the Chicago theater community. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Performance. Since rejoining Clearwater in recent years, Kat has served in various leadership positions, most recently as Associate Director this past summer. She plays a key role in the success of camp, and we know that she will be an excellent Camp Director, following in the footsteps of many strong, confident women who came before her over the past 90 years.

Please join us in welcoming Kat to her new role! A message from Kat is below. You can also read Kat’s bio.

A message from our Camp Director, Kat Bramley

Dear Clearwater,

From the age of 10, Clearwater Camp and the Clearwater community have played a vital role in my life. Whether it was moving to a foreign country, going to graduate school, or starting my own business, Clearwater instilled in me the confidence, values, and work ethic necessary to succeed. While I have been lucky to pursue many different passions and professional aspirations, the drive to inspire young hearts and minds and build community has been constant throughout my journey.  I am humbled and honored to be able to bring all of my different passions and life experiences to the role of Camp Director.

Being back at Clearwater over the last three years has been an incredibly unexpected and rewarding gift and has opened my eyes to just how important the camp experience is for young people today. I can’t imagine anything more meaningful and necessary than creating an environment where girls and young women can learn, grow, and thrive as individuals and as a community.

As Camp Director, I am most looking forward to continuing to develop deep and lasting relationships with campers, parents, staff, and alumni. The Clearwater community is a unique and vibrant one, full of history and potential and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

In the spirit of Clearwater,

Kat Bramley
