Betsy Bowen Boles
August 18, 1930-September 12, 2021
Betsy was a camper from 1941-43. She was a steadfast and loyal supporter of Clearwater over all these years attending many reunions including our 85th Reunion in 2018 at the age of 88. Her legacy of love for Clearwater is carried on by her children and grandchildren. Betsy went to Smith College graduating with a B.A. in Music. Betsy’s love of music, and especially vocal choir music, was one of her life-long passions. This interest took her from college summers at Tanglewood Music Festival to international travel and performances with adult choirs, as well as joining church choirs wherever she lived. She worked for McDonnell Douglas, the Lipid Research Center at Washington University and as the Director of the St. Louis RCGA. In her mid-fifties, she confidently and bravely moved from her life-long home of St. Louis, MO to Brevard, NC to become one of the first 100 female Investment Representatives of Edward Jones Investments. Later she was a Limited Partner, and continued as a Field Based Recruiter in Northern NJ and the NYC area for several years. Betsy is survived by her children and grandchildren.

Those Who Have Taken Their Last Portage: Clearwater Camp works to remember and honor those alumnae who have passed away. We learn about alumnae through the Clearwater network of family and friends, who may let us know or make gifts in their memories. For these tributes, we use materials including their published obituaries and other remembrances from family and friends. Please contact Clearwater if there is an alumna you would like remembered by the camp community.
