We are delighted to announce that your donations this fall made it possible to begin the initial steps to build two new staff cabins at camp. We view this new staff housing as a strategic way to attract and retain staff members who have more experience and expertise. These cabins will be built beyond the new sport courts so that they have space for family time and privacy while not on active duty at camp. Thank you all who responded with your capital gifts that an anonymous donor matched in October to make these new cabins a reality.
In the past two weeks, our contractors cleared the space in the woods, installed plumbing equipment, and poured the concrete on the foundations of the two cabins. As many of you know, accomplishing all this work before the snow falls and the ground freezes is key to keeping construction projects in the Northwoods on schedule. Here are a few progress photos below.
As a reminder, these cabins, along with the other building projects we completed last year are part of a comprehensive site plan to make upgrades and improvements to Clearwater that will:
- ensure safety while meeting the needs of today’s campers,
- remain faithful to camp’s beauty, history, and traditions, and
- continue to fulfill Clearwater’s mission and vision.
