Site Plan Sparks: Construction Progress on New Staff Cabins

Site Plan Sparks: Construction Progress on New Staff Cabins
News

Over one hundred donors responded to the matching gift challenge last fall to expand staff housing options in Portage #2 of our master site plan.  As you learned in our Site Plan Sparks posted in November, these donations made it possible to break ground and pour the foundations.  Since the beginning of the new year, Lee Construction has worked around the fickle weather of the northwoods to begin construction, and we are pleased to share the following photos documenting the construction progress on these new cabins that will be ready for staff by the end of May!

Early March: Prefabricated walls and trusses are delivered to camp

Mid-March: Walls are assembled quickly, and cabins take shape.

March 28, 2025: Roofs are shingled!

Next Steps: Siding, electrical/plumbing, insulation, drywalling, painting, trim, cabinet installation, and interior furnishings.

As a reminder, these cabins, along with the other building projects we completed last year, are part of a comprehensive site plan to make upgrades and improvements to Clearwater that will:

  • ensure safety while meeting the needs of today’s campers,
  • remain faithful to camp’s beauty, history, and traditions, and
  • continue to fulfill Clearwater’s mission and vision.
